The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, and the representative of National Geographic (NatGeo), Enric Sala, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the production and diffusion of the Our Ocean Conference 2015, to be held in Valparaiso on October 5th and 6th, and that will be attended by high authorities from around the world.
NatGeo, a global leader in environmental matters, will become an international communications media partner for the conference, promoting the event internationally. “The purpose is to promote a message of conservation, to combat illegal fishing, the acidification of the oceans, pollution and, therefore, the sustainable use of the seas,” said the Secretary of State.
The collaboration agreement with NatGeo includes audiovisual consulting and promotion the event through various communications platforms. In this regard, Enric Sala noted the commitment and global leadership of our country in ocean protection. “We are very excited to collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Chile so that the Our Ocean Conference is a great success,” he said.
Enric Sala is a Resident Explorer with National Geographic, a group comprising of only 14 people in the world, and also includes, among others, the Canadian filmmaker James Cameron. Sala was very active during the first Our Ocean Conference which was held in Washington, D.C. in June 2014.
